This may not have been the experience you hoped for, but don't let that get you down. There are so many places looking for speakers and writers with life experience that resonates with their audience. You will find more of those audiences as you continue this path.
On the flip side, let me add that you have done more brave things with your publishing and marketing efforts than I think I might be able to do. Your notes on all of these are very inspiring. Thanks so much for sharing them with your readers!
Thanks so much Mimi. I'm sorry I didn't see your comment the day you posted it, so I'm late replying. Yes, I'm a "dash-in-think-later" type of gal at times. (As I wrote in my book.) I thought I did it then because I was so young and foolish. Maybe that's just the way I am! (Gosh, there's a interesting/frightening prospect!)
Rose, you went - and that's an achivement in itself. Book fairs work for some and not for others - it's a nerve-wracking experience. And glad you found other writers; you never know what that might lead to. A thought - do you have WIs in the area around you? Women's Institute/ writers' groups/ book groups are always looking for speakers. But WIs especially. You can register with the HQ of the county. I always find that quite fun, because they re always lovely women and interested in what you have to say. By the way, love the Dragon brooch! Could do with one of those in, with me living in Wales. x
I did reply to this Judith, and it showed up on my phone twice! Now it is not here on my PC at all. (Go figure!) Anyway, if I find the card that the dragon was on, I'll send you the information. They had red, green, blue and silver dragons, but I already had a red one, so I went with green.
Yes, that's a good point, Christine. I'm not sure what my next steps will be. I think I will try a paid option on Substack and "feed" the memoir into that funnel, a bit at a time. Maybe with other kinds of writing I do, like the 50 word stories, and the 100 word ones too. All just ideas at this point.

local markets or church halls or Xmas markets….I like to be in amongst different stall holders it eliminates the competition Rose

Oh, if only I had the fire dragon breath! As it was, the dragon was the best thing to come out of it. It turns out that type of selling is not for me.
